Well the McQueen family welcomed their little boy Finley a couple weeks ago- he’s just as cute as his older brother! Clayton so far is a great big brother, and BOY OH BOY can he take a cute photo, those blue eyes and white blond hair, what could be cuter. While I was taking photos of Finely, Clayton came in with his camera to be my second shooter…What else could melt a photographer more then that? Congratulations Cam + Amber your family is complete! Can’t wait to watch the boys grow up together:) the cute toque and bandanna as well as the adorable deer pants are from BROK boys, handmade here in Kelowna check them out online! https://www.facebook.com/brokboys
It seems like just yesterday I was in the delivery room capturing the first moments of Ryley’s life his entrance into this world, my debut as a REAL Auntie. What a special moment for me, and special photographs to have to remember it by:) Here we are over a year later, and he’s become a special part of our family. What a little card he is, he absolutely LOVES his cousins, so cute to watch them interact. After a couple years of real trials, tribulations and hardship for my sister in law in and out of the hospital it was a milestone moment for these photos to take place… their first professional family photos since Ryleys was born. Watching Tanis suffer for the last two years and her health being so bad makes you appreciate life and cherish the little things we all take for granted. The good news is she’s on route to a better quality of life, finally being able to live life normally and be with Ryley and Dennis as a family, making memories like these. Here is a sneak peek ! xoxo

You may recognize this beautiful girl Tori from the adventures of Charlie Ford, with her cousin Jillian Harris, fast forward a year or two, and we are so happy that she is now moved on to a new and exciting adventure, that we ALL benefit from, she is sharing her DELICIOUS recipes and nutrition tips with all of us on her new blog!
What is Fraiche Nutrition?
Tori: “Being Raised in the Okanagan, I have been surrounded by the freshest and most beautiful food since I can remember. Our family LOVES good food, and my sweet Mom and Ukrainian Granny had me in the kitchen at a very young age teaching me everything they know: I baked my first loaf of bread when I was 10 years old! I am now married to an amazing man that shares my passion for good food and a nice glass of wine, and am blessed with a sweet son who already at the age of two is rolling up his sleeves in the kitchen. My nutrition philosophy embraces moderation and quality without deprivation. You will find that my recipes and nutrition advice centre around sustainable and enjoyable healthy eating. I am head over heels in love with food made with the best ingredients, eating in good company and making your table look as gorgeous as possible. I promise that you will love cooking (and eating) even more when you use the right tools and invest in kitchen items that make cooking and baking easy and beautiful to look at. Food simply tastes better when we add those extra touches and slow down to truly enjoy a meal as a family versus grabbing takeout in your car or having kids glued to the TV on the couch during dinner.
My hope is to inspire you to make better choices to benefit your body, whatever your nutrition goals are.”
Bella… you are just that, BEAUTIFUL inside and out and I am so blessed to call you a dear friend. We had fun doing this new shoot for Fraiche Nutrition with a trip to the local farmers market, some wine and good food. What else can you ask for really? If you haven’t already check out her blog, I promise you will be back again and again:) www.fraichenutrition.com
Recently I went to Vancouver for another amazing shoot with Natasha Zimbaro, we decided to do more of an editorial/fashion style shoot. We of course couldn’t do it without help from @TOPSHOP, Gorgeous Tulle Skirts from Beautulleful ,hair and make-up by the fabulous @Kaitlinhargreaves and the adorable flower crowns were made by a local Vancouver florist Tanisha @societyflorals (formally sa-belle-vie).
Natasha is not your average 21 year old, who goes out partying, and is deciding what they want to do with their life…. she’s been preforming since she was 11 years old, and knew from a very young age what she wanted to do with her life. She is very down to earth, hardworking, and ever so sweet, in her spare time she is the outing coordinator for a local retired living home. Becoming a professional singer is something you have to be truly motivated to do,her whole heart goes be into this profession, because it is a ton of work. Natasha is the lead singer working with her pop band “PRTY H3RO”. In April of 2013, Natasha and her band signed to SONY Music! A life long dream of Natasha’s. Their debut single “Life of the PRTY” AND “Young and Shameless” is now available on iTunes! She is currently working on her Solo album, we cannot wait to hear what she’s been working on in the studio. Here is a sneak peek of our shoot we like to call “Enchanted Forrest “.

Ok so getting a professional Photographer for your wedding day is a no brainer right? After all it’s one of the most important day of your life… right?
Well… for most couples yes it definitely is the most important day, However speaking from experience, for those couples who decide to bring a child into the world, the day your little baby arrives Trumps any wedding…no offense husbands…
Love will become something bigger than you ever knew was possible from the VERY first moment you see + hold your newborn baby – your entire world will change. Your wedding day will be a distant memory– THIS will now become most important day of your life, trust me. So why wouldn’t you capture that.
You’ve all heard it many times before, time goes by WAY to fast, and our children grow up right in front of our eyes, after one week, after three weeks, one year is here before you know it– they grow, change and develop and continue to do so whether we like it or not! Too bad sometimes we can’t freeze moments HUH?> Actually….. That’s MY job as a photographer. Newborn babies change the fastest every second.
Its very Important you find a photographer that knows what they are doing and has some experience, they will be handling your week old baby for 1-2 hours, posing them changing them, soothing them back to sleep. Its an investment that is worth every penny. Remember Newborns photos cannot be re-done, they are only “new” for a very short time.If you don’t choose the right person you may end up with images like these gems I came across on pinterest!
So you get my point:) I recently had the pleasure photographing my friends new baby Hunter. I have met a lot of new parents but I have never met a couple so positive and excited about becoming parents as these two were. That baby could scream all night and Suzanne wouldn’t even flinch, she’d still be smiling and talking about how great motherhood is, and that she’s prepared for anything that comes along. Congratulations to you guys, Hunter is a lucky little boy, looking forward to watching him grow:) xoxo
Cam + Amber make such CUTE children there couldn’t be just one of them in this world! I was so honored when they asked me to document yet another amazing milestone in their lives! I have had the pleasure of documenting MANY milestones in their life, engagement, wedding, Trash the dress, maternity #1, baby Clayton as a newborn, family photo sessions, and now baby #2. I truly believe that there are times in our lives we should document regardless of how we feel about our bodies, sure pregnancy isn’t always glamorous, crazy hormones, we are Tired, have an extra 40 pounds to lug around etc. etc…. we don’t always feel our best. HOWEVER Pregnancy is by far one of those precious times that you need to capture.
Maternity photos are not just about a bump, or something to be able to put in a baby book, they are a way for us to celebrate! Celebrate the baby we’re about to meet, celebrate the family you have created together, celebrate the strength and all our bodies can go through, Women are powerful, WE ROCK. plain and simple. So to every pregnant mama out there remember….That baby bump of yours stretch marks and all is SO beautiful. Clayton is so pumped to meet his little brother in a few short weeks and I am sure they will get along perfectly and become great friends. Clayton will be able to show him many things, like how to break a leg under a year old, do flips into the pool unannounced and how to be daddy’s number one fan at Monster Jam. Congratulations you guys we Love you and can’t wait to meet the newest member of the McQueen family~ xoxo
Hmmmm looking back to the days when we had no children, if you wanted you could take 2 hours to get ready while sipped your freshly brewed latte, you could sleep whenever you wanted and shower whenever you pleased. You could watch TV shows with Characters that don’t have names like Toopy and Binoo or Phineas & Ferb , and girls night outs happened a lot more frequently…..don’t get me wrong I love my children and wouldn’t trade them for the world…but things are different when you become a mom, your whole life changes including your friends.
Before you have kids, your friends were all about you; who you have things in common with; who you have fun with; who you want to hang out with for a good time.
Now…. kids enter your life and friendships have a whole new meaning, and purpose. You need friends, Mom friends… who understand exactly what you’re going through and won’t be annoyed when it takes four months to plan a night out together, those friends understand that you cannot have a phone conversation without getting interrupted 16 times in 4 minutes. They don’t judge you when you show up at their house 30 min late with one kid attached to your leg with no socks on in the middle of winter and the other one with breakfast all over their face… cause it’s been “ONE of those days” .
So what!…. you wear your lulu’s every single day… so do all your other mom friends, putting Jeans on means we are really going all out! lol You need moms who just plain get it, and make motherhood easier. Just when you used to think a true friend was someone who would hold your hair back while you puke after drinking too much…NO, NO, let me tell you, a true friend is someone who will clean your hair, clothes and floor up after your baby just projectile vomited all over you for the third time that day. All you mom’s out there know what Im talking about there is something very special about having best “mom” friends, it’s like an unspoken pledge between all mother’s to stick together and go through the hardest most rewarding time in our lives, as mother’s raising our children through the good days and the worst days.
so why am I blabbing about all this?? I’m suppose to be posting photographs right? Yeah I know I’m getting there. These photos are of four very special ladies in my life, I know you have seens them before, they are some of my favorite ones to photograph and you can see why that is. The woman who is responsible for these three precious girls is someone who I can definitely call one of my best “mom” friends and who I am forever grateful to have in my life and in my children’s life. Keep your eye out for some hilarious utube videos from us after all we both think we are pretty much the funniest people in both our families (I think we just think that, no one else really says that) so I know we are destined to rock some mommy renditions of “fancy” and other songs on utube one of these days;) lol Love you like a sister Trace:) xoxo
TIME flies especially in today’s world where everything is CRAMMED into days, hours and minutes in order to get the most done in one day as we possibly can. We all have times in our life when we think “I wish”.
Think about how fast children grow up, if you have children of your own you know this all too well, people say all the time “Enjoy the little moments it’s goes by so fast”
It always makes me sad when I hear of people who have never had professional family portraits done, it’s a storytelling, memory at different times in their lives as their families and children grew. Portraits to tell the story of what they liked to do together, that portrayed their unique bond and personality. Portraits that tell the story of their relationships – from the total dependence of an infant to the teenage years and beyond when our children have their own children. Think about if our grandparents and their parents before had never taken photographs, what would we have to look back on remember them and teach our children about their lives?
SO YES it’s a PAIN….. A HUGE PAIN I know, to coordinate 4 or 5 different families and their schedules, in-between nap time and work and swimming lessons, but it makes my heart smile to know that my client’s like The Russell Family will have these photos to look back on forever. We took these photos at Quail’s Gate | Okanagan Estate Winery.
“He said I’ve been watching you dad, ain’t that cool I’m your buckaroo, I wanna be like you And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are. We got cowboy boots and camo pants
Yeah we’re just alike, hey ain’t we dad, I wanna do everything you do So I’ve been watching you.”-RODNEY ATKINS-“watching you”
If any of you have heard that song, it always brings a little tear to my eye, there is nothing sweeter then to watch a little boy look up to his Father and want to grow up just like him. When it comes to this newborn session this song is a perfect match. Meet “Exton” he was 9 days old when I got to photograph this tiny 6lb. little man, cool name right? It was his mommy’s grandpas middle name, I love when the names have meaning! I have known Joel and his family for over 23 years, OMG If that doesn’t make us feel old!! lol. Exton’s mom and dad both grew up living the farm life, riding horses, playing polo…. grandma and grandpa have 19 horses at their farm, and I’m sure Grandpa Dan is already itching to get little Exton on top of one sooner than later! So it was only fitting that we dressed him up like a little cowboy for a few hours. Enjoy your sneak peek of your little Buckaroo.
